Zeppel-Sperl Robert

Zeppel-Sperl Robert (Leoben 1944 – 2005 Vienna). Studied from 1962 to 1970 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Maximilian Melcher and Max Weiler. He was a member of the Vienna Secession, as well as a co-founder of the artist group “Wirklichkeiten”, which wanted to assert itself alongside the fantastic realists and the group nächst St. Stephan. He has been influenced by Old Masters such as Hieronymus Bosch and international contemporary art and comics. He works mainly on large-format acrylic paintings. From 1969 he moved to Venice to create glass sculptures for the glass factory Berengo, Murano. In 1977 he moved to the United States and eventually lived and worked in Vienna, Venice and Bali, where he set up a studio in 1990.
His works are part of the Essl Collection, Klosterneuburg near Vienna and have been exhibited in group shows at MUSA and Leopold Museum, Vienna, among others.
